Track & Field fans from all across the state of Texas had the honor of watching Coach Lisa Baucom receive the #UILState Sponsor Excellence Award at today's 4A State Track Meet!
Coach Baucom was named as one of the top 15 coaches of ANY UIL event in the State - music, academics, or athletics. The packed stadium got to hear all about Coach Baucom's countless accolades, and, more importantly, the amazing impact that she's had on over four decades worth of students!
Take a moment to read a portion of the essay that CISD Administration used to nominate Coach Baucom below:
Connally ISD is named after the now decommissioned James Connally Air Force Base, and we take great pride in that history. At Connally, we focus on teaching our students how to set, uphold, and exceed the Cadet Standard. In a district full of dedicated staff members, there is no one that does a better job of embodying that standard than Coach Lisa Baucom. In the 40+ years that she has served our community, she has consistently helped our students recognize that they can overcome incredible obstacles and achieve excellence of the highest caliber if they are willing to work hard. Over the course of her career, she has led our Lady Cadets athletic teams to state qualifications and championships in Cross Country and Track. She has coordinated the development of our girls athletics program into a local powerhouse that has produced multiple district championships and play off runs in other sports, including volleyball, basketball, soccer, and softball. In her English classroom, she has helped our students close academic gaps and find success on their STAAR tests as well as gain college credit through AP exams. As an academic coach, she has helped students medal at the UIL State tournament in Prose and Poetry Interpretation as well as in the essay competitions. She has also coached champions in Accounting, Ready Writing, Social Studies, and countless other events when she's been called upon. She is the glue that holds our building together. She is the rock that the school is built upon. Generations of Connally Cadets greet her lovingly, eager to discuss how far they've come in life thanks to the mentorship of their old coach. Coach Baucom reminds our students and our community that they have all the talent in the world, and that she is there to help them hone it into the results that they want. She helps guide her athletes and students from where they are to where they want to be by challenging them to grow. She is full of sarcasm, compassion, and commitment. Above all else, Coach Lisa Baucom recognizes the power that participation in extracurricular activities can have on a young person's life, and she gives all that she can to use that power to benefit as many students as possible.

All Connally ISD campuses will be closed on Friday, May 2.
Students will report back to school on Monday, May 5.

We are saddened to hear news of the passing of Don Jones.
A proud employee of Connally ISD, Mr. Jones served the district as the high school Agricultural Science teacher for 38 years. After finishing his time in the classroom, he remained a vital part of the district, serving as a bus driver for another 22 years.
Friends and students alike remember his seemingly infinite knowledge, his ability to make any lesson fun, and his sharp wittedness. He took great efforts to stay in touch with his students after they left his classroom, and he treasured getting to stay a part of their lives as he continued to work with their children.
Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

On Monday, April 21, 2025, the Connally Independent School District Board of Trustees took a moment to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Don Hancock.
Dr. Hancock was a proud alumnus of Connally ISD. After graduating, he served a variety of schools in the Central Texas area as a teacher, coach, and an administrator. He spent many years of his career serving his alma mater as a member of the school board, a campus principal, and as superintendent. He was honored as the ESC Region 12 Superintendent of the Year in 2003. Even after retiring, members of Cadet Nation could often see Dr. Hancock out in the community as an active member of the Lakeview United Methodist Church and huge supporter of Connally Cadet Athletics.
Dr. Hancock's family was recognized at this month's board meeting and were presented with a tribute resolution prepared by Representative Pat Curry, who serves Connally's legislative district in the Texas State House of Representatives. Representative Curry's tribute resolution, which was filed in our state legislature, highlighted the enormous contributions that Dr. Hancock made to the students, teachers, and community members of Connally ISD throughout his lifetime. The resolution was read aloud to all attendees of the April 21 board meeting, and the Hancock family was presented with an official copy of the document.
Dr. Hancock's love of his faith, his family, and his community was evident in everything that he did. He set the #CadetStandard that our students strive to uphold every single day.
