Athena Nuness is originally from Minneapolis, but she has lived in Waco since 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work and a Master of Science degree in Mental Health, as well as being dually licensed in both Minnesota and Texas.

Athena’s career in education spans nineteen years, with fourteen of those years spent in Midway ISD and Waco ISD. She has worked with students of all ages from early childhood to high school in various roles to include school social worker, district behavior interventionist, coordinator of truancy intervention and counselor. Ms. Nuness was also the recipient of the Invaluable Treasure Award in Waco ISD in 2022 for her role in coordinating the recovery of over 800 truant students.

Athena enjoys spending time with her family, staying active in the gym, listening to music and traveling.
