CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION AND NOTICE OF RECORD DESTRUCTION

Connally ISD proposes to destroy Special Education records of students who were removed from the program; who transferred from; and who graduated from Connally ISD within the academic year 2008-2009 and any year prior to that. This purge of records for this particular academic year is in keeping with Texas Education Agency and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission guidelines which require school districts to keep Special Education records for a period of seven years. Records of each student referred to or receiving special education services, including referral, assessment, and reevaluation reports; enrollment and eligibility forms; admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) and transitional planning committee documentation; individual educational plans (IEP) and individual transition plans (ITP); and parent consent forms for testing and placement; and other records of services required under federal and state regulation.  Parents of former Special Education students with records on file for the 2008-2009 and any year prior to that should notify the Special Education Administration Office at Connally ISD, 200 Cadet Way, Waco, TX, 76705, 254-296-6465 by September 30, 2016, if they wish to obtain those records or wish those records to be retained. It is our responsibility to inform you that such records may be needed for Social Security Benefits or other purposes and that it would be to your benefit to obtain them.
