Local Child Find Program

Children come in all sizes, shapes, colors, and abilities.  They do not learn the same way, but they ALL learn.  If you feel you know of an infant, child, or young adult who does not learn easily or has an impairment that might affect his/her success in life, services may be available through CISD.

It can be difficult to diagnose a physical or intellectual problem with a child. Parents or friends who have concerns can seek assistance through Child Find by contacting the the Region 12 Education Service Center (ESC) or the Connally ISD Special Education Department.

Child Find is a sevice that provides parents and guardians with helpful referral information to determine if services are needed to meet a child's needs. Child Find is a component of the Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act (IDEIA) that requires states to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities, birth to 21, who are in need of specialized instruction and related services through special education. All referrals are considered confidential, and special education and related services are provided at no cost to the parent or student. The parent, legal guardian, or surrogate parent retains the right to refuse services and are provided other procedural safeguards under federal and state law.

ESC Region 12 and Connally ISD believe that every child deserves a chance and the earlier a child's special needs can be identified, the better that child's chances are to receive a free and appropriate public education.
