URL Shortners- Use these tools when web addresses are too long to write down on a whiteboard, email, etc.

 Shorten Multiple URLS-Use this when you want to create a quick website tour. One URL, with navigation to multiple pages that you determine.
 
 
  • Open each of the following websites in a different tab.
  • Copy and paste each URL into the fur.ly website and click the Go button when finished.
  • Fur.ly creates a URL for you to give to your students.
  • When they go to the URL, a navigation button allows them to move forward and backwards to the multiple sites that you want them to tour.
 

C: Collecting Information and Bringing it to You!

 

1. Google Alerts

   You will receive an email message whenever there is new information about your topic.
   You do not need a Google account.
 
 
   Enter desired topic, type, how often, volume, email address. Create Alert.
 
   If alert becomes too popular, at the bottom of the email message there is an option to remove alert.
 

2. iGoogle

   A customizable one-stop webpage full of information and inspiration at a glance.
 
   Google or Gmail account required
   If you do not already have one, you can set one up at http://goo.gl/LasUZ
 
   Go to www.google.com and sign in
 
   

3. Google Reader

   Keep up with blogs about topics of interest to you.
