In the 2011-2012 school year, there has been a shift from Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, TAKS, to the The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, STAAR.    This assessment tests the current TEKS in each grade level and focuses on academic readiness.  You can view the video created by Region 13 below.

 

 

The test will be comprised of Readiness and Supporting Standards.  Readiness Standards will make up 60-70% of the test while the other 30-40% consists of the Supporting Standards.  Readiness Standards will be tested every year and more heavily than in previous years.  The Supporting Standards will rotate from year to year.  It is also important to note, there will be embedded test questions from the Underlying Processes and Tools category.
